whats missing from the 1st and 2nd pics?

left work today, had brought the G (which i deliberately avoid in hospital carparks) to work as the banger w126 was parked in...when i was filling up on the way home (ultimate 98 of course for a premium engine like the m110), i noticed someone had kindly attempted to 'borrow' the large emblem on the rear of the wagen. it was mangled but still intact...an f-bomb was dropped to the bemusement of the person at the pump next to me.  ahh, what a reward for coming to work.

i honestly hadnt had anyt vandalism to one of the the mercs in over 5 years when someone 'borrowed' my large hella floodlights.

That is terrible.

My Mum's A Class is now missing its rear emblem as well and one of the wipers was bent down onto the bonnet when it was parked at her workplace, in Cottesloe I might add!

Is the G supposed to have the spare wheel mounted there ? I dont recall the yellow one having that setup.

This is the problem with mercs, restored old ones or new ones, you cant just drive it and leave it in everyday situations expecting it to be OK, some wanker will always go out of their way to deface it. Makes them a rather unpractical car at times.

thats because the yellow one (manilla beige please), had been rear ended and the spare snapped off...much better than the bulk of current offroaders with the wheel buried under the rear of teh car...it destroys any clearance they might have had!

How stupe is that!  Especially if you're in mud and you have to retrieve the wheel from underneath.  Not real well thought out.

But more importantly, that sux about the star.  So it was in the hospital car park this time??  In front of a security camera by chance??  I hope something comes up to catch the culprit.
You know, they look about the same size as the ones on Sprinter vans.  Duck round to the ambulance bay and "borrow" one back.

I agree the emblems unfortunately cause the cars, no matter how old they are or type, to being impractical to use just anywhere at times.  IMHO, MB shouldn't have put a chrome star on that wheel cover to begin with, but since they did, you gotta have one there I suppose.  To G wageners, I suppose no star on the wheel cover is as bad as any other merc with a missing bonnet star.

Oscar,
cameras in a hospital car park? what sort of fantasy land do you live in. only one of the 3 major public hospitals in perth has them, and thats at the boom gate to catch people dirving over the curb and entering it rather than waiting for the time dependent boom gates to open.

id take one off the ambos, but they are a scary breed and id likely end up needing my own maxillofacial reconstruction if i got caught by one of them!

Underbelly country of course  8)  No one would dare touch a "made" car.  No that mine is but if it was........well for starters I'd be driving a Lambo probably.

... and then there'd be hell to pay ;D and tonight my 350 was at risk cause I had to park it outside at work.  The town's gone ferral for some reason and there's drunks around and a fight or two involving queing at a well known multinational fast food joint.  Man I raced back to work here and made room for the 350 to shelter in before the hoods work their way up the street.  It's Wednesday night for crying out loud.  I thought everyone else would be like me on a Wednesday at 8pm, sober and watching good TV shows on the ABC.

drunk and disorderly conduct on a Wednesday night eh ?

Sounds like our Northbridge every night of the year  ::)

Out in west Perth in Nathans favourite hangout, connections, things are a little more subtle  8)

Sorry for your loss. I have absolutely no respect for thieves or vandals.

To be honest, I am surprised my car hasn't had more attacks of vandalism, the last was a number of years ago when parked in an area with a high back-packer population. The pathetic person couldn't manage to souvenir my Star. ::)
