Indeed it was. I suppose the M Class and then the GL are of mammoth proportions these days, so this GLK should fit the bill for those not needing the extra real estate.

The review is written as of Jan 2010, and the vehicle pictured has US Florida license plates. However here in the US, the GLK is far from new, having been available for more than a year. Is this just now coming down under?

It is a neat package. I've seen one in the dealerships. Backseat is cramped, but that's what one should expect when purchasing a vehicle of this type. If you want rear leg room, buy an ML or a G.

The 7-speed auto is supposed to be a wonder. Should help with performance, but economy figures aren't wonderful - 16/22 is pretty awful for a non V8-powered vehicle. My S55 gets about 18.5/24, but of course, it's not a stand-up brick in the aerodynamics area...

I like them...  I think mfr's are finally starting to scale down the size of SUV's in the US, which I don't think is a bad thing.  Of course I don't know what all the housewifes will do when they can't go climbing over smaller vehicles in the grocery store parking lot.     Gotta sign off before my wife sees this posting.

as noted by the others, these have been out a while. im sure with beema selling lots of x3s and soon x1s in this country, we will soon see th glk in oz.  the worst thing is the GL rips off the Gwagens name to give it cred, and now the glk rips off the gl whichs rips off the G! they shoulda just called these things a completely different name!
as they arent avaikable in oz, idont have a brochure... i will need to get around to ebaying a brochure from the US or europe so anyone who is keen to send a glk brochure to australia for a simple ozzy would find a friend in me (and not just jackson brown!)
