How did he do the welding and get power to the driven wheel....seems bogus to me.

...because if I was stranded in the desert, I wouldn't just be concerned about doing the minimum necessary to get out of the desert, but would go so far as to rig up a kickstand, and then instead of abandoning the creation when reaching civilization, would pay fees in order to keep it.  A whole lot of things on here are over-refined or over-complex for such a need.  Completely bogus, I'd say.
