Jesus MT A Dunnydore?

Buy an old Mini and do that up, or an Escort or something that's actually worth money when the time comes to sell it.

I reckon someone's been messing with your head planting post hypnotic suggestions (Not mentioning names TJ) as some form of revenge...........

its the only answer I can begin to fathom..................

You certainly won't have any problems getting the parts. Good luck with it. 8)

Mmm.... this reminds me of my Corolla. I had to sell everything else of course, and now I'm stuck with a 2009 Corolla (paid $2k for it, in good condition, from a friend, with 100k miles).

I just picked up a set of 5 spoke rims from a Celica GT and Hankook Optimo tires for $200 from a local cop.

Anyway, it's kind of hard to explain, but where I live (Deltona / DeLand ... whose joking nickname is "Delrico"), you are expected to be have a little shit coffee can exhaust if you drive a little import Civic/Corolla/Celica/etc.

The car is OK, but lacks any character (even my quad cab pickup had more). My only consolation is I had it appraised for more than twice what I spent on it  :o

Going from 3.7-4.5 L to 1.8 L powerplant is interesting... I feel like a neutered bull.

I actually have more respect for my daily driver now, than before I got the 450SE. Yes, switching from a 4520cc, 224bhp petrol beast to a 1248cc, 90bhp turbo-diesel is a sad affair, but darn does that diesel kick a punch when the charger kicks-in at ~2000rpm, and all that at 49mpg. This really makes me appreciate all the advances in engine design and engineering made over the last few decades.

Here is mine.

Problems include missing mirror and front fender and rear fender damage. BUT at $2k for a ~3 year old car, still under factory warranty is not a bad deal. The MPG averages about 35 according to the gauge.

I have 4 turbos from a Shelby Daytona (2.2 liter), two of which were originally considered for my W116. But with that now gone, I've considered swapping the manifold and putting one of these in. BUT this is just an idea, I haven't done the math or even looked into it and costs for me are something I can't do right now.

Gee M.T., at 31 it's almost too late !!!  :)

I put the engine together for my '69 Impala some time in my 20's.  The first time the 350 went together, I had the machine shop assemble it.  After about 50 1/4 mile passes and about 2,000 miles of driving, the block split horizontally inside the lifter gallery leaking coolant into the oil.  Pulled that one, got .030 over block from a friend and put it together in the basement.  had a copy of " How to rebuild your Small-Block Chevrolet" and "Smokey Yunick's Power secrets" at hand for the build.  This time around, it got World Product Sportsman heads (ported in the same basement by yours truly), Comp Cams new XE274 cam and a 750 double-pumper Holley.  ran 13.0s in street trim through all four mufflers.  Don't know why it was so slow. ;)

the rebuild should present no trouble at all.  The real challenge is getting it to run perfectly once it is done.  To make it as good as new, or better is the true test.

How bloody hard can it be ?  8)

It has modern engine management, you drop it back in, plug it in and start it ;)  ...

So the theory goes ;)

RELEASE THE BOGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we've all been guilty of it to some extent- I kind of think of taking an old 70s kingswood or carolla for another spin just to re appreciate how good 116s are! with the commodore youll get to experience the contrast each week. Its like going to a tattoo show in gagebrook then heading straight to the national art gallery :)
