I think the following will happen MT, You will find all the design flaws and shoddy "Engineering" I found building VK Blue meany replica's and wonder how the hell they sold so much crap to the loyal fans.

I also did a fair bit of work with Clubsport cars because a mate had 3 of em (A Fanboy) and realised they were Mutton Dressed as lamb.

As a Marketing exercise the HSV cars and spin off brands are amongst the most successful in Australia's Auto history with one teensy flaw, they were created in an unholy bond between marketing and Accountants......

And when you begin to look hard under the skins?

It shows.

Hi MT having used these cars as work cars . I would recomend you search for a VX model as it has the better rear end .they put the rear control link back on that bean counters removed for the VT .It stops it rolling some might call it important. :)

Finding a good one won't be easy, as they were far from perfect even when new. What you want is "Grandpa's car" that has been looked after, even if it has a few flaws.

Well, this is tougher than i thought.

It appears that finding one that isn't a heap of shit is quite a challenge.

I refuse to spend money on a vehicle with a worn out steering wheel, loose material/tares in drivers seat or a sagging roof lining.

I will only accept a perfect interior and a dent free exterior, this is going to be quite difficult.

Perfect interior and dent free exterior???  that's the final product, not the beginning of a project.

Then again, I was once happily commuting in a Isuzu truck so rusted and trashy the frame quite literally broke in half on the way to work one day. :)  when working on cars for a living, sometime one develops an odd sense of mechanical humor.

The biggest problem I have found with "less sophisticated" vehicles is they tend to be abused and clean examples are impossible to find.  I've seen some pretty cheap cars deliver great service when cared for and others that expired with only 100,000 miles due to uncaring owners.  You might be looking for a long time there M.T.

and PS, i hate interiors and never, never EVER want to pull one apart, EVER again!

thats why i want one thats perfecto

MB's have ruined that experience for me for the rest of my life ;)

That's how I feel about under-dash work.  Nothing like being upside-down below the dash, dizzy and frustrated to remind you why you hate doing it.
