Heckflosse getting some use at Classic Motorsports

Classic Motorsports magazine has a '66 230S project car that has been featured in the magazine and website. Recently the Suddard family has pressed the 230S into use for a family vacation.  Lots of pics and good stories for classic car enthusiasts of all stripes.  Also, a reminder that we should have fun with our cars.

The heckflosse is my favorite Mercedes. It cracks me up, though, how so many people with pristine cars can barely drive them a few miles without them conking out, and I've driven old beaters that were neglected for years and they've never broken down on me once.

Yesterday I got to see the car from the story in person at the Mitty (http://www.roadatlanta.com/the-mitty).  The blue looks great in person and the car is really clean inside and out.  Had a good talk with Margie Suddard from Classic Motorsports.  Seems that Tom Suddard (Tim and Margie's son) recently had a Mercedes of his own though I don't know exactly which one yet.

Not much of a Mercedes presence at the event.  Lots of just about everything else, but very few Benzes.

Apparently BMW is a Orange Blossom tour sponsor.

My first MB was a finnie - a 220SE auto that I loved.  Always thought the 230S was the one to keep. All it needs is a set of 14" bundt cakes and chunky Michelins ...
