Can't believe these guys.. I  don't know why I even bothered -again. I asked for anything they might have in photos or otherwise info about German MB dealerships in the 70's. After a cryptic short reply, about whether I am willing to sell my showroom project, I get another mail telling me that there is no access for commercial or private people to anything from their library. Journalists only, and only after going through different levels of management.

Well, there's one Fellbach and thousands of people asking questions. Can't blame them for being terse to be honest.
They're doing something to publish their archives though: https://mercedes-benz-publicarchive.com

Slowly, but surely new stuff is coming up there. Have a browse, maybe you can find something of interest.

Thanks for the tip. Went through all pages, but nope.. just stock photos and they use the same photos again and again.
I am gonna try and ask a reporter friend here to do the request. Maybe that'll work.

floyd,  I just got a 1980 sales brochure and it shows the luggage set next to a 280E.

That's a big gap. So, those cases are from AFTER the black vinyl Hepco-set>1979, not from before 1972. Without star and font it is normally near impossible to tell the date, unless you got them on stock pics, like you have.
