I'm with you there Goldacre, I found out how bad west end is pretty quick while in Adelaide for the first formula 1 GP in '85 or whenever it was, there was this other stuff called southwark which is equally horrible, fortunately a pint of Coopers on tap is like a meal in a glass and can sustain life indefinately. Not convinced about Carlton Draught, it's passable but luckily we can get proper bier here these days, one of the perks of globalisation.
