what an awesome, unique trip! thanks for capturing it for us. I'm very impressed by the lightning shots.

ever since i got my 116 I've been wanting to take it and my girl on a cross country trip like that... one day.

hehe, that was awsome Nathan well done. 8) 8) 8) 3/3 cool smileys for you.
I know you're an 80s tragic but Icehouse!!! I'm emailing WMG right now :D kidding.  I was expecting Yahoo Serious to pop out from somewhere and give a wave.    I was never fond of Icehouse but admittedly, if I'm impartial for a moment, I have to concede it matches the footage perfectly. Great stuff!! ;)

So young Nathan, what was the reason for hiding the maximum speed logged on the GPS  8) :o ;)

You will have to PM him, personally i was disappointed  ::)  but he was not driving an 'S' class at the time (especially not the ones in his family garage)  ;)

Great to see the photos and have watched the video Nathan.

Come back to the proper side of Australia real soon - 6 months will fly past.

I know you cursed me for the extra cost of the D90 but the first time you see a cheap AF lense and know it will work on the D90 (but not the D5000) you will realise the reason - I know your level of OCD.

I prefer to pass roadtrains in my ML500 as they sway about a lot and speed is the essence of safety with these.

thanks again people,
the 80s is where it is at Oscar, i even ordered maverick and goose shirts for me and my mate to wear on the drive over.

MT, speeding?! dont be ridiculous, i was in the 230e! the high speed was set by my mate overtaking a roadtrain on the first day, then we didnt pass 115kmh the rest of the trip. economy was the key!

Bill, one of the other regs asked if i had a camera today prior to theatre.  i answered, yes, yes i do. went and got it. now i know i need a true macro lens. least then i can deduct this camera which i hadnt planned on doing!

Some shots worthy of a w123 brochure I reckon.
Which city is lit up there Nathan?  Looks like everyone's got a light on, or maybe being a country bumpkin I'm not use to seeing such sights.

Heh Oscar,
That was Adelaide at mount lofty. Bloody cold up there a few weeks back!

Zed, it was a nikon d90, with the nikon 18-200 lens as per WGB's suggestion!

Some more excellent pics Nathan, I especially like the shot of the servo (roadhouse?), I always suspected that emu export was never designed for human consumption and this seems to confirm it.   ;D

Definitely Adelaide there.

Looks like a mixture of high and low pressure sodium street lighting predominantly... fits with Adelaide.

Beautiful pictures.

They make me desire to see the beauty of Australia in person (in a 116 or similar, of course!). I love traveling. Some of the pictures remind me of where I've been in the Western US. I'd also like to see a road train in person, just for kicks! We haven't got them in the US.

Hemersam

Beautiful pictures and landscapes! Gosh, I could name states in the US that the "same" picture could be taken. I'd love to see Aus., but I'm too old and it's too far for me now. Beautiful! The car, too!  :)

Looks like the Nullabour Roadhouse from memory?

If you think Emu Export is bad, wait till you cross the boarder into South Australia and try West End Bitter, the locals rather drink the Water there and normally settle for Coopers anyway  :D

Then you get to Victoria and discover Carlton Draught ummmmm,  beer for Gods  :P
