My wife's ML320 CDI had developed a new habit of leaving it's Glowplug light shining in the speedo for a couple of minutes after starup as well as blowing some visible black smoke and on two occasions it had stuttered coming up a long hill run at highish speed.

Armed with the enthusiasm that only comes with an unexpired warranty she rang Diesel Motors in Perth who said bring it straight in.

Apparently one of the glowplugs had expired so they replaced all 6 under warranty and said the air cleaners were clogged with dust.

It now runs beautifully again and is slowly but surely converting me into being a (partial) diesel believer.

My ML 500 also had it's aircleaners replaced at the last service due to clogging.

I guess it's been a long hot summer in Western Australia.

this is the benefit of having bought 47 vehicles off them!
i suspect us other plebs would not be so fortunate!

Maybe , maybe not Nathan.

I would not take an old car to them but they have been quite reasonable to me for 21 years now so I ain't knocking them.

I might also add that with the two ML's it is the only repair that has been done on either of them outside routine servicing and one set of tyres on my ML500 (Oh and the free rubber brake pedal pad they gave me under warranty).

My ML is now over 60,000 km and is still on it's original brake pads which is quite something compared to the 163 which used to use them for breakfast.
