Its curious because we never got the W126 carb version oficially in South Africa.  I know they did have them in Europe though .

Its also the first W126 I've seen with manual crank windows.

Im yet to see the ultra rare 260SE too, it was only sold in certain markets though.

I have seen a few w126 280S 's around perth tho, never knew they came with manual windows or transmission.

During the early to mid '90's on the Natal lower South Coast there was a gold 280 S with tan velour, manual windows and transmission, but it had 4 head rests.

This blue one also lacks the passenger side mirror.  Its R21000 which is about $A3100 so I think the asking price is pretty fair though the milage is of most concern, its probably had its clutch changed sometime in its life.

In Aus I have seen a couple of interesting W126 poverty pack cars, one was a 280S with auto trans but otherwise a pretty basic car, the other was a 280SE with a manual trans and it was advertised with a blown head gasket and appeared a couple of months later at a local melbourne wrecking yard.  Both had steel wheels and basic fitments, and asking price was I think $1100 and $600 respectively.

I.

126 280'S are pretty common here in Brazil.  I have owned a couple and  have seen a few with a manual 4 speed and know a 5 speed car that's based out of Rio. That one is really interesting because it is fully loaded with leather, power windows, sunroof etc... color combo is silver with palomino, also pretty rare.

My stepfather used to own an immaculate 81 280S in Switzerland, black with beige cloth, automatic, sunroof, rear-headrests, but clear glass, manual windows, no a/c and steel wheels with hubcaps. Did about 5000km myself in that one, great car, but without a/c it got pretty hot even in mild Swiss summer.

Tks,

Joe
