Does anybody know where I can get some font files for some cars?

For example, the W116's font is kind of blocky and serious, but I can't find any fonts on the internet that are relevant if not exactly the same as the font used on W116 badges and such.

I've found Honda and Porsche and stuff like that but no classic Mercedes fonts..

I tried to do the same thing without luck.  There is a mercedes font but it looks like this

Mercedes Font

I got a gut feeling unless you have the font downloaded it wont appear on your computer the way it does on mine, so if the above text seems the same as the rest of the text well then that's the case.  Be sure though that it's nothing fancy and doesn't resemble badges in any way.

It also doesn't help that MB change the font with regularity...

280SE on a 108 looks different to 280SE on a 116 which is different again on the 280SE 126...
450SEL 6.9 #5440 = V MB 690 , 450SE # 43094 = 02010 H , 190E/turbo # 31548 = AOH 68K

Hm. I see what you mean.

And I could see the "Mercedes font" correctly, oscar. Looks just like the one they use today on their websites and such.

If I knew how and had the skill I'd take a stab and making some font files myself. But.. I don't  :)

As far as I know, Mercedes does all of their printing in-house, and makes their own fonts so that they cannot be easily duplicated.

Try www.dafont.com as they have 1000's of fonts in their library - plus a font search engine for fonts they dont have.

That is my understanding, too.

As something of a font freak (they are the basic tools of my trade, after all) I have approximately 11,000 typeface families on my Mac (so god knows how many individual fonts that represents - when one considers that each size and variation such as bold, italic, etc., is by definition one font).

I have never been able to find the official M-B fonts, despite having searched quite a lot for them. The only time that M-B has never responded to one of my e-mails is when I asked them about their house fonts.  Apparently a secret.

Oscar: Your "Mercedes-Benz" font example came out as plain Arial on my screen, so I obviously don't have that font loaded.  What font did you use, and what type was it - PostScript, TrueType, or OpenType?

All I got from a search for "Mercedes" and "Mercedes-Benz" on that site was a font of car-brand logos.

Hi OBH, 'm on a work computer at the moment and it only shows up as arial as well.  I'm not sure where I got it from but when I get home tonight (late), I'll get some more details and email you the font.  Not to sure what type it is, I'll let you know.

;D  Found it and I can see it now.

Here's the link.  Scroll down to font number 275.  There's some other  8) ones there too like band fonts and movie fonts like a Willy Wonka font ;D

Thanks, oscar.   :D

Have also now found the M-B corporate typeface: Berthold Corporate A (for which the foundry wants $US350 - ahem!).

Link

When M-B uses this typeface in adverts, it's reduced to 80% width.
