Are 124's any good?

well i must think again about how good the W124 is ????
i was a litlle bit racing on the highway with my 300E and i blew my cylinderhead gasket , and i drive with my 280SE's always fast on the highway sometimes too fast and i own one of my 280 for 16 years never blew my cylinderhead gasket on that one !

It can and does happen to anyone in any car - cheer up. It's easily fixed....well, almost easily fixed..

This seems to be a common problem with 124s and 201s.

It is a common problem with the six in line engines. (also diesel) , long head = big heat expansion movements.

But doing the job is much less work than with a V8

yes it is an easy cilinderhead you can almost walk around it , i put some liquid mechanic in it today  ;D
i think i am guilty for cruelty towards W124  ::)
