Anyone from Indonesia on the forums?

Every time we go to Bali, we start developing hare-brained schemes to move here.

Sooner or later, one of these schemes is going to come off and I'll find myself living here, which makes me ponder a) what the taxes/fees/licenses etc are like on old cars in Indo and b) what the supply of cars and parts is like and c) were there any particular quirks of models/options delivered in the local area?

There used to be a Kris based in JK but he doesn't seem to have stuck around...any other Indo people around and can provide some insights?

Mr T Smith (formally) of Plantagenet Winery has a friend there who grows wine grapes and he loves it, the wines a bit flabby and best drunk cold  ;) Oh, and the cuttings came from Plantagenet winery as well  :)

He loves it so i hear, although i have heard of one story going sour when they complained to the owners across the road of the Hotel about staff sitting on their wall and smoking, carry on etc etc. They moved off the island 6 months later under a very dark cloud with the locals in hot pursuit  :(

try these forums, seems to be plenty out there.....

Great place to live but you will be in their country, their rules apply legally and socially i guess.

Don't necessarily confuse Balinese with Javanese and remember that at the end of the day the Javanese run it all.

True Bill - there are some very large cultural differences between the islands, I don't think I could live anywhere other than Bali.  I know quite a few people up here so socially/culturally the move wouldn't be overwhelming (thanks for those links G).  I'm just wondering what I would have to do with my car...(and by the time I move up it probably going to be "cars")
