Title: Any suggestions for a PPI in Sydney please?
Post by: carl888 on 25 June 2006, 07:36 AM
Hello all,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent mechanic to perform a PPI on a car I'm interested in?  Not in a huge rush, in the next three weeks is fine as I'll be away.  I am Melbourne based so I'd need to organise it over the phone.

I don't want to sound bitter and twisted, but every PPI I have paid for has been pretty woeful in terms of picking up fundamental probems however this would be the first time on a Mercedes Benz.

Thanks for any information.

Regards,

Carl.

If you define PPI you may get a response:  Do you think that you mean any of these recognised abbreviations? If not 'please expalin' to quote dear Pauline.

In book production, the number of pages contained in a one-inch stack of paper.

the measure of the sharpness (that is, the density of illuminated points) on a television display screen.

A measure assigned to paper stock by the manufacturer to be used in calculating book bulk.

Measures the average level of prices of a fixed basket of goods received in primary markets by producers. Monthly percent changes reflect the rate of change in such prices. Changes in the PPI are widely followed as an indicator of commodity inflation. Frequency: monthly. Source: Labor Department.

I did send you a private response yestaerday and I hope that you followed up.

For the benefit of others: I have found that Styria has had a great deal of history with 116's especially 6.9's.  His own car is testament to his love of the model and dedication to the task of restoring and maintaining the vehicle.

He carries out work for others and has supplied me with replacement parts including Ignition Module, Bumper Bars, Fuel Accumulator, Muffler and Door Rubbers just to name a few.  I also entrusted him with the rebuilding of my gearbox [transmission about 7 months ago] his son Parkes does motor trimming and restored the front seats.  Between them, they have everything 'covered'.

Should you wish for an experienced perdon to give a sensible and honest condition report may I suggest you email him.  You will get much better value for money that with an NRMA [National ROads and Motorists Association] inspection.

That's my two bobs worth.
