Well now, that's a chapter best forgotten.......talk about painting a moustache on the Mons Lisa!?! Altho the ole W116 is showing its age after nearly 48 years some how  a stock standard one still  shows clean and elegant lines....the moment you fiddle with it, it looks old.  ::)

100% agree. I’ve tried different wheels and bits and pieces on mine but keep coming back to the original look.

One exception is the race prepped cars (lowered, rims, no bumpers, spotlights, stickers etc) they look pretty mean in my eyes!!!!!
