What happened........
« on: 07 April 2008, 10:53 AM »

.....to Styria ? Just checked in here after a while and lo and behold the forum's previous highest poster is nowhere to be seen. What happened ?

I hope you are all well. By the way, anyone know where is a good place to look for a 6.9 in Germany ? Do they have an autotrader website or something. Need LHD not RHD.

All the best,

James

He left to set up his own forum ? Treacherous little shit. Just kidding !

I have a friend who is looking for one in Europe and he asked me if I knew how to find one. I said that I knew some people that might ! Anyone have any ideas ?

Ryan - you have TWO 6.9s now. Its a desert changed to a sea, isn't it ? Tell me...how did you get them in the end ? From Oz ?

I'd have thought, since they were manufactured there, finding a 6.9 in Germany would be like finding a Commodore SS here in Australia... just pick up any paper or open local eBay on any given day and be inundated with ads for them???

good luck james,
only problem with 6.9s in germany is that they will be much more expensive than in the motherland!
or these greater prices though, you will have a bigger range and much better parts availability...that and you will be able to belt the crap out of it on the a'bahns!

James, I gave up trying to import, and went with plan B which was to buy the apparently sole available local car, now affectionately known as trusty rusty on account of it being a full resto project.  Just a month after that I got a tip-off through GrantV about another 6.9 that we had not been aware of locally, having come up for sale.  What could I do?

James, theres' an Autotrader type magazine in Germany for classic cars called "Oldtimer Markt" and he's bound to find something there. If your German's ok, check out www.oldtimermarkt.de, click on "Kleinanzeigen" and then on "ansehen'. A PDF document will come up and then click on that. A few moments later you should have pages of ads coming up. Scroll down to the Mercedes pages and you'll probably find a 6.9 or two. Probably also a Gullwing or seven, a couple of 300S's and all sorts of other exotica. The Euro prices are eye watering!
