Is it possible that we Melbourne or indeed Victorian owners could motivate ourselves sufficiently to have a Christmas get together?
Nothing flash, a few drinks and a meal (optional) at a pub, or someone may care to suggest an exciting alternative.

Can I suggest Echuca so I don't have to drive so far ;D
It's about time you guys had a casual GTG. Melb is a tad closer compared to Syd for me, but if it goes ahead, I'll do my darndest to get down there. (If you accept foreigners, interstaters I meant) ;)
Oh Dear - I have 5000 cousins in Echuca - as well as other family members. :-[ If you happened to meet there between Xmas and New year I might be able to attend. ;D
Regards,
BC
Get crackin and plan a date - and i should be sweet to make an appearance in the ghetto as well! :D ;)
Still got some virgin blue credits from a cancelled trip earlier in the year.
So NSW meets up in Victoria?
How about you Victorians get behind Koan and sign up for a drive day/BBQ/P$%% up or whatever?
The meets we have had up here are laid back and damned good fun.
I thought Melbourne was the party capital of Australia? :o
Regards,
BC
Rae and I may be visiting Melbourne in a couple of weeks and there may be a chance we could participate in a meet somewhere in the CBD... although nothing certain yet.
Ian, were you at hombre??
You down for a Melbs pi$$ up?? I'll head down for a weekend sometime in December after the weekend of the 8/9th.
I reckon we all hit the Elephant & Wheelbarrow for a few pints!
It's sounds to me like "Eastern Oz in get-together in Vic" would be a more appropriate title judging by the current interest :)
I'm definitely keen on joining-in if the timing works out.. At the moment my calendars pretty quite so I'll almost definitely go if it happens..
As far as the meeting-place.. I would be keen on meeting practically anywhere in Vic.. Always love to take my forever on-going project for a bit of a cruise. But don't ask me for a suggestion, I'll end up thinking of something by next Christmas.
Cam.. Which Elephant & Wheelbarrow were you suggesting? St. Kilda or Bourke St?
Bourke St mate.
Anyone able to suggest a date?? Looking at the calendar, for me it might not be possible till December 27th / 28th. I'll only be down for a day or 2, so see how it goes.
You melbourne peeps tee up a date and i'll try make it!
Cam.
Anyone going to chime in?? I'm a Melbournesian, but I really don't have any preference for dates as my schedule is pretty free at the moment. I'm happy with 27th/28th.. Any other Melbournesians interested?
If I am not working I will be there
any time is o/k by me

Sounds like a great idea and being a Melbourne resident, I'm up for it. We could just plan a simple gathering like a lunch or dinner, or even a lunch run somewhere in the 116's. I am happy to organise something if you wish.
Regards,
Carl.
BUMP ;D
What about we meet in Melbourne one morning, then head off to Robertd's place to see the W116 museum? He's about 1 1/2 hours from Melbourne on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Be nice to time it with OBH travelling to Melbourne.
Regards,
carl.
All Welcome!
That sounds like a good plan. I could double up and visit a mate in Geelong on the same trip.
I'll be in Melb from 31 March for about a fortnight.
We need to confirm with Robert of course, but how about Saturday April 12?
Regards,
Carl.

Ideal for me.
Others?
I'll just keep an eye on what happens and let you guys know a couple of days before or so. Would love to come, but too hard for me to plan just yet.
The idea of paddock bashing our cars around robertd's paddock sounds fun ;D Didn't someone suggest that :D.... No? ::)
Hi Guys,
Working Saturday but Sunday the 13th April is OK by us.
the back paddock is only about 2 acres or 80m x 100m. So it's exciting circuit if you need to check out top gear in your car! but it has been done, under controlled condition of course.
Regards
Robert
let me know
OK, I was trying to get in first and sneakily avoid the Sunday ;D
I can't make the Sunday 13th. but since I'm local, don't change the date as I think that's OBH's last weekend in town.
I can heartily recommend the back paddock :)
Regards,
Carl.
Sorry if I dissapoint anyone with this news, but my trip to Melbourne is off.
I am a sick puppy courtesy of a major rash of spider bites that has seen me in hospital overnight. The stuff the medics pumped me full of precludes driving or flying, and I have to attend clinic every day for a few days until we know what the progress is.
The medics are still trying to decide whether it was whitetails or redbacks, and I'm full of antivenoms and other potions.
Feeling wobbly, and am off for a lie down.
Shall return when feeling up to it.
OH!
Glad to know you are OK OBH. There will be a next time for sure. Better than being bitten on the funnel by a hand webbed spider I guess ;D
Regards,
Carl.

OK, just spoke to Rob, he has to confirm with the Boss tonight but the new date to visit him is Sunday April 27. I'm in! The plan would be to meet in Melbourne sometime in the morning, say around 10:00am for a coffee then off to the Peninsula to see Rob. Any takers with that date?
Regards,
Carl.
Well, folks, I am feeling fairly normal again (well, normality's all relative, ain't it! ;) ) now - a week+ since my arachnid encounter.
The anti-toxins and other things the medics pumped into me were probably responsible - at least in part - for my recovery, but at the same time responsible for the lingering nature of my unwellness. I feel a tad toxed-out and medically poisoned (such is the nature of medicines and healing).
Henceforth I shall approach unknown dark corners of sheds and their contents only after having fumigated everything with enough Mortein-type products as necessary - plus 50% extra for good measure.
Might also invest in some long sleeves and long gloves; the gardening gloves I commonly wear on such excursions are probably as much a risk as none, because they could allow nasties to get inside, be trapped, and take their revenge.
I returned to the scene of the incident today and, after having bombed it thoroughly, took a good look - to discover a veritable condominium of webs that conformed to those in my red-back reference pics.
Also found the sills of Crusty to be full of such webs, so I blasted a whole can of arachnicide through the access holes along the tops of each sill, then double-bombed both my storage sheds for good measure. If anything survives in that environment it will be a miracle. (Of course, I daren't go in there myself now for a couple of days lest I also expire from the poisons!)
Hi All,
Carl count me in for April 27.
Hopefully I will have the 6.9 back to take for the trip but nevertheless I will be there.
Where in the city would we be meeting if that has been decided?
Regards
Hi Paul and other Melbournites,
If your car is not ready you can hop in with me no problem, 116 if it's fine, sorry, 126 if it's raining....
I just spoke to RobertD and he would like us there about noon on the 27th. April.
Here is the plan:
Meet at 10:00am for a 10:30am SHARP departure. Nice breakfasts for the late risers or a good coffee for those in need :)
Torch Cafe
178 Swan Street
Richmond 3121 VIC
I will be there just before 10:00am
We'll then head down to Robert's at St. Leonards and be there around noon.
Any questions, email me at carl @ aliencamel.com or 0413 876 435.
Regards,
Carl.
PS. Hope OBH is feeling 100% now.

95%, thanks, Carl - it would be 100% if I could be there for the GTG but work, dammit, is in the way again! ::)
Hello All,
Just a reminder about this Sunday!
Myself and big450 are starters.
Regards,
Carl.
OK Guys,

Robert

I think your dreaming, we just dont have the numbers in perth! ;)
I think if we managed to locate every W116 in Perth and if they all attended, we might have a chance ;D

Hi all,
Well, sorry, I've had to pull out of the day, I've come down with a bad cold. There is no meeting at the cafe this morning, the others heading directly to Rob's.
I am disappointed I can't make it but look doubly forward to next time. Have a great day.
Regards,
Carl.

Saw your post just in time. It was my intention to go to the rendezvous point and say hello, but pike out of the run as I don't want to drive the car any distance with what presumably is a burnt valve or three.
I hope you recover soon Carl and another outing can be organised in the future.

Hi All,
Well the Melbourne Get Together has been and gone. A great day was had by all those who made it.
RobertD played the perfect host and is a fountain of knowledge. His shed was amazing and the amount of spare parts was mind boggling. It was a great opportunity to compare engine bays of the Euro 6.9 and the Aussie 6.9 and noting the differences. It was the first time I had a good look and a ride in a euro spec 6.9 and I was impressed.
Thanks to RobertD for a great and enjoyable day and to Carl Jones for organizing it.
