Hi guys,
I am in Perth for a very short visit, heading back East next Wednesday.
I would love a quick catch up any of you Wild Westerners (Nathan, Tim, PB, Bill etc.) (sorry if I missed any one) for the purpose of inspecting any current projects.
By the way we were at the cappuccino strip (South Terrace) in Freemantle last night when a light blue 6.9 cruised past. I only got a glimpse
of it but the reg ended in 335 I think. Do we know the owner?
Looking forward to your replies
Cheers
Robert
Hi robertd, If you are interested in a sail and are visiting Busselton give me a PM :)
I will need a hand putting the boat in this Sunday lunch time at Port Geograph. Unfortunately my 450 does not have a tow bar so i will be in the boring work vehicle, just an option for your stay in the Western State.
If you are hanging around Fremantle keep your eyes out for a white AMG 2 door 560 AWESOME :-*
In fact if anyone on W116.org is handy around Busselton around Sunday arvo PM me and you will get a sail thrown in for free :) The pub there is pretty good too :P
G
PS there is a Milan Brown 280SEL in Busselton (a past love of mine) with some great bits on it like a fully rebuilt auto by the starshop, and i think the guy sitting on it wants only $800 for it :o
Hi RobertD,
I wil be around over the weekend bujt live in the hills which are about an hours drive from Fremantle.
We had a mini-meet last Sunday and Nathan will probably be working on his "Goldy".
See what comes when everybody logs on over the evening.
Bill
I'm around, but I'd recommend against coming into my general area unless you intend to catch the horrible disease i have, though, is it really that horrible? I'm not at work... Maybe not!
RD,
great to hear from you.
shuold have told us earlier! i would love to catch up but cant give a time presently. im working night shifts this week (65 hr work week!) and today, just woke up at 4pm. i have two nights left finishing sunday am. perhaps a sunday PM (ie 3-4pm?) might be good at my dads in the subiaco area. open invite to all the wa posse (sounds like goldacre is occupied! ;)) - WGB can bring the medical gowns and masks so we dont catch anything off PB!
ill confirm tomorrow if that sounds good to you, my thoughts arent completely together at the moment as i just woke up!
regards
nathan
ps WGB, it would give me a chance to steal some quick pointers off you now i have the NAS (nikon addiction syndrome), i just ordered the remote off the web!
I should be able to attend whatever eventuates. 8)
Tim
Thanks for the quick response guys, I know this is a very hectic time of year but would be great to catch up.
Thank you for the invite G but I won't have the time to drive that far south this trip.
I have the use of my sons Golf GTI tomorrow (Saturday) it's a real blast to drive. So I will be mobile and able to scoot around between
other duties.
I was hoping to visit Cottesloe in the morning, Tim if you are about, would love to drop in and check the progress of Bluey. Please do send me a PM with you address and phone contact.
Nathan, I will send you a PM with my phone contact as you seem very tied up with work and probably best I try and work in with you.
Bill, I would be happy to drive out to the hills if its suits you?
PB, I will take your advise.
Cheers
Rob
Sounds good Robert. I just sent you a PM.
Tim
Hi guys i would not mind catching up with you's just rend me an address and i will see if i can drop around after i finnish work at 6pm :)
I spent a couple of hours and had a beer with Robertd this afternoon.
He drove the 6.9 to Mundaring Weir for an objective diagnostic check and just to prove the air-con works in 37 degree Perth heat.
Then we drove the ML500 along some twisty roads just to see what M-B had been up to in the past 30 years.
Then we tried out his son's VW Golf GTi 2.0 turbo around a deserted Kalamunda.
What a nice guy - I'm pleased his son has become engaged to a Perth Girl and look forward to seeing a bit more of him in the future.
Not only that - but he lives not too far from one of my daughters in Geelong so I might get a peep at his collection some time.
Bill
It sounds like you guys had a great afternoon. The drive across to Mundaring Weir would have been an excellent test, it's quite interesting terrain. I'd imagine you went through Piesse Brook etc.
Robert and his wife dropped by my place earlier in the late morning, and he took the 6.9 out for a drive around Swanbourne.
I was wearing my usual attire for working on MBs and cleaning up the front porch, which had been planned for the rest of the day. ;)
It was a warm day, that's for sure.
BTW Motec6.9, you could PM Nathan and see if he has made any arrangements.
Tim
good morning Perth team,
We are on day 5 of our perth trip and the temperature hasn't dropped below 30 oC
Have so far driven 2 6.9's. Tim's bluey has come a low way and it is quite evident that he has put a lot of effort into bringing it back up to its former glory, the replacement MB tex seats look great and the suspension worked a treat. I really enjoyed thundering around the burbs in the big blue although the local police are offering a 2 for 1 deal on demerit points for Christmas so I had to take it quietly. Thanks again Tim.
The second battleship I drove was Bill's Siverardo, what a great ride that was, the new leather interior was absolutely smick. I will have to give serious consideration to doing the same with my Silver one. Bill you have an enviable collection of special tools scattered about in that shed of yours and I again thank you and you lovely wife for your Western Hospitality.
An open invitation stands anytime you are in the east.
Nathan if you are finished with night shift maybe we could organize for this afternoon or possible tomorrow?
thanks again guys
Cheers
Robert
I'm glad you enjoyed the drive, Robert.
Tim
RD,
i was planning on calling you this arvo, but got absolutely sidetracked in my second day off. i am going helter skelter to finish a few proejcts before i leave for melbourne for 6 months in jan. i picked up the Gwagen from the exhaust shop with the 5 litre in it today, giving them a consdierable sum of cash for my new custom extractors and twin pipe setup. i then took the car on the trailer to a couple of radiator places, as ill likely need a custom one made! this all consumed the half day off my wife let me have. i do apologise as it seems ill miss you this visit, we are giong on a brief holiday for the next few days until christmas.
apologies again

Sounds like you guys get more visitors than the east coast!! I'll have to make it over there so I can break the record of how many different 6.9's can be driven in a single day. 8)
Nathan, on a side note, if you're gonna be in Melbs for 6months from Jan i'll have to catch you for a Steak and an Ale in Feb sometime.
Will be down there for AC/DC and it will be the beginning of a week long stint involving 4 concerts in 3 states.
Should be able to twist 13B's arm to join us as well.... ;)
Cam.
Hey Goldacre,
Sounds like you are a local down this end of the world , i know you have a Blue 450 , you were'nt at the Farm (Bunker Bay) yesterday (Wednesday) were you ??
I was dropping my son off for a Surf and noticed a very nice 450 in the carpark , seems like every man and his dog are here at the moment , so it may not be , but it was in great condition..
Cheers
Rob
Hi Burty, no it wasn't my 450 as she is sitting in the garage at home due to no tow bar to launch the boat :( But if anyone has a Reece hitch sitting around for a 450 do let me know :-* $$$$$
Two weeks on the boat in the comfortable moorings at Port Geograph right between the Fisheries Department boat and the Department of Transport boat which just happened to be on the side which faced my expired boat registration sticker >:( fortunately they were pretty cool with '...its in the mail' 8)
On that note if anyone down there you know does not have a skippers ticket they are screwed if they launch at Port Geograph and/or leave the heads for fishing :o
I will be down there again for Australia Day and here is a heads up in case you don't know, its on a Tuesday so get the Monday off ;) If you want to come for a sail PM me and we can set up a time.
G
I'll have to get back to you on that , i think , she who must be obeyed has organised a week off (in Esperance) and it may take in Aust Day..
Cheers
No Probs, i am now planning to go to Busselton this weekend (16th and 17th) to do maintenance on the boat before Aust Day..and i will be driving the 450 with her brand new front grille and right hand headlight :o
If you want to catch up for a driving cruise to at least one winery in the Merc let me know (have to do at least one winery while i am there)
Chris Sheedy has my number or can get it from my brother in law, i hope to touch base with Chris to see if he can pull the front bumper mount out a bit as the bottom of the grille contacts with it :-[
Esperance sounds great, being a long time since i was there, 120klm East is Cape Arid National Park and if you like amazing isolation with magnificent views definitely go there, if the Park ranger is still Paxman you will be in good company if you need it.
I remember walking on the sand and it squeaks under your feet with each step, truly amazing place.
Enjoy that trip :)
PS the Woody island boat tour is worth the money and take the swimming togs along with goggles and snorkel, crystal clear water down there with lots to look at.
