I'm doing a kind of similar thing to my 350SE, but it needs quite a lot of work.

Astonishing! This looks like a new car to me! Nice bumpers too. Is this a dark blue or a black car?

The car is as black as they come:) ok here are some better pictures, i painted the Grill black today, it actually looks a lot better in black then in grey. So far i have installed

-Euro Bumpers
-AMG Front Valence
-Amg Rear Badge
-AMG 16 inch Pentas
-AMG steering wheel
-Dash Cap
- Remove Cats
-Becker Mexico

Things I have yet to do:

-Find AMG rear Tail
-Install euro Headlights
-Fix Leaky Fuel Distributor
-lower car about 1.5 to 2 inches
- Install a hose to route cold air into Intake
-Find AMG exhaust / Make a replica AMG exhaust
-Possible buy and install "new modern" Becker Mexico

It's an absolute stunner, and I agree that the black grill looks way better. It's very inspirational.

I can't get over the look of the paint.  It looks amazing 500. 

You know what else would just finish it - clear indicators/turn signals and tail lights.  It's an old topic but the black/chrome effect would be complete with all round clear lights I reckon.  Of course no one makes them unfortunately.

i think i am going to smoke spray the tail lights and the signals. We should look into making smoked corners and tails for our cars.

I forgot about smoked.  They would look great IMO.

I have seen in some old "In Aller Welt" magazines that Italian spec 116's had clear lenses and the barest of amber inserts right at the front of the lens. I wonder if there are any that still exist..

I can't get over how awesome that car looks 

I swear, surely people who see it on the street would think it's a car worth (in todays money) tens of thousands more than it is?
