foxtel's "simply obsessed" NRL campaign

Hi all. This came up as a pre-roll ad on youtube today.  Surely the producer could've picked a different car to sacrifice.   Plus it's unrealistic. Engine fires aside, I can't remember the last time I saw an attractive young woman driving a w116.  :P  ;D

more importantly Oscar,
welcome back!
i saw this ad the other day and i thought it must be a CGI thing as the car looks quite nice.

Hey Nathan, thanks man, though not really back yet.  Once a month or so I pull the cover off the 350 and kick 'er over, sitting behind the wheel, reminiscing.  Sigh....   There's only one road going w116 in these parts these days, becoming so rare.
Just popping in to alert the crowd of misuse of one of our kind.  A few years ago we probably would've tracked down excactly what car it was, it's provenance etc.  If I were the producer of the ad and a bit of a stirrer, and knew a bit about the make and model, I would've painted something that looked like a 6.9 badge on the boot to stir things up. ;D

Hi ya Bill, yeah I'm still about. I haven't forgotten this place or you guys, just been pursuing other hobbies. I've reduced the fleet to one and it's been stored for when the bug returns one day. Not much else to report on really.

Come back oscar, all is forgiven :)

For swapping spanners for woodworking tools or for having Japanese marques as daily drivers ;D

FWIW, my son's got an Astra now. Still month's away from his "L's" so I drive it occasionally. No idea which factory made it but at least it's German design. I always envisioned my kids having 190's for learner cars but those plans have been dashed. They laughed their butts off at the ad.. Mongrels
