Thought you might be interested in some photos of the Bandolero and Andreas. I hope the link works. I must have been too boring to photograph! I was actually in the main sprint and these seem to be just come and try photos. Notice the finnie too - gone so fast round the RH corners that the driver has slipped over to the other side!

They're great photos.  The 6.9's look awsome, one there especially of bandolero really leaning into the corner with an inch of rubber still holding on the inside front and the tyre wall distortion pretty plain to see on the outside.   14" rims must look like the rubber's about to roll off. 

Shame there were no 280S photos.   I went on to youtube to see what other racegoers have uploaded but nothing of the mercs yet.  There's one that follows the mini 188 and I can see the 280S but nothing to write home about.  It's a bit jumpy and you can't really make your car out. It could be a commodore but I'll post it anyway. The car in question is at 1:37, 1:47 and 2:20.  If anything, it's fun to watch the mini get used to the first few corners during the twilight running.

The wheels are 15x7 and pumped up to 50lbs. I was pushing it as you can see by the smoke (worn valve stem seals) from deceleration at high revs. 

That's interesting, certainly was my 280s from Saturday but not much to see. Obviously filmed by 188 crew. Funny driving under lights at first.
That was the first run after dark. Don't know why that yellow turbo falcon wagon dropped off so much speed in the last run but I was right with him on the corners but he would disappear on the back straight. Paul has some video but don't know how he will go putting it up. So many things to do! Certainly was lots of video done of the 6.9s

50PSI and still that much distortion  you wouldn't think it.   Then again, it's a 6.9.  BTW, I thought the smoke was from the wheels, you've ruined that illusion for me now.    What about the hydro suspension, how did it cope?  The vids will be good, not just for the sound but it would be great to see how the corners are handled between the 280 and the 6.9.  There's only one 6.9 video I know of on youtube that shows a 6.9 being tested and pushed on a track.  Seen that one?  I think it compares it with an S Class from a few years ago. 

Lastly what about the night running Craig, was it difficult?  188 looked like he was going to turn too early into the second bend on one of those laps, it made me think it must have been harder to pick the right lines.

The hydro suspension worked well, I think there was less body roll that my 280SE.
Also on my car over the last 6 months or so the suspension light would come on after a day and the suspension would drop slightly.
NOW, after 4 days the light hasn't come on and it hasn't dropped at all.
This proves that these cars need a damn good hiding once in a while.
Also on the way home I noticed that the motor was more responsive off the line at the traffic lights. (And no smoke..... )

Andreas' car went well too, but he saw that I was a bigger hoon than him so he let me pass. His car ran out of brakes after the second run as he boiled the fluid. When it cooled down he had brakes again and was able to drive home ok.

Also Oscar, i thought I replied but obviously it didn't work. The lighting was pretty good and I didn't think the effect was too bad. Didn't worry the lap times much either. I think 188 was exploring new lines and having a bit of fun!

Thanks for those Craig.  Yeah, there's two shots of the 6.9's behind one another right at the end of the album that look great.  It's a shame they couldn't catch up to you to make 3 w116's in a photo

But I saw yours too, finally got to see some good action shots of the 280S. 

Notice how higher the 280S sits compared to the 6.9's?  I've always thought the 6.9 had a naturally lower stance then any other w116 but povo sits as high as your 280S which is higher than my 350.  One of those improvements on the to-do-one-day list.  Lowered, but not slammed, I think the w116 body looks great hugging the tarmac.
