Keeping it locked up and frequent washes helps but yes if left out in the elements it will take it's toll.

I cannot remember when is the last time I saw a 116 on the road here in the winter... Last one I saw "in the wild" was in the summer of 2013, during a severe rainstorm that led to some very nasty flash floods. It was a brown 300SD!

Mine are tucked away since November and won't come back out until spring.

There's a German family in my town that bought a 450SEL new in 1980 and drove it year-round for the next 25 years or so - I admired it for years but sadly towards the end it was getting pretty rusty and I don't know where it is today; I know they sold it a few years ago when the widow became too old to drive but I think I was out of town when this happened. I've got a couple of leads concerning its whereabouts and I think I'll follow up on them this year, may be a good parts source...
