The Forum is being overwhelmed lately by AI crawlers, causing our server to not respond and appearing to be offline.

From what I remember, the site is fronted by Cloudflare?
Wouldn't their recent AI Bot protection be of any use here?

That's what we thought too.

We have had to add further protection for a few specific countries which seems to have solved the issues, for now.
