SOLEX 4A1 to Holley TBI
« on: 14 March 2010, 07:10 AM »

hello mates!

I'm thinking of converting SOLEX 4A1 of my 280S to Holley Commander 950 4-barrel TBI, what do you think mates? This costs about US$1650 for the whole kit but very reliable and costs less in the long run.

Looks to be a nice setup.

EGO sensor and control of ignition timing with the right distributor. Timing control could be a bit hard but GM have used Bosch distributors so with some clever mixing of M-B and Bosch parts even that might be possible.

Have you downloaded the pdfs to see what's involved?

One of them is 114 pages, covering tuning, looks a bit challenging.

I see the actual throttle body comes in 3 sizes, which one would you use?

they have 600,750 and 900 CFM. The 600 is way to go (45 PPH injectors) and closer to SOLEX in terms of airflow, I like the 4-barrel because they function like SOLEX, opening the secondaries at 3500 revs or more depends on the program in the ECM.

In moderns M110, the 1981-1985 kind, i guess they did came with an Oxygen Sensor. can someone provide me with a picture of the actual placing of the sensor, does it go on the manifold or down at the exhaust pipe.
