Anyone know of anything that can be used to replace the black plastic/nylon covering on the fuel hoses in the engine compartment?

It appears not to available from M-B, it comes with the fuel lines.

I did find some silicon tube in meter lengths (and various colours) on the web but can't find it now.

That's something I've been wondering too. I would like to replace those fuel hoses at some point and it would be good to have them looking original.

Today I'm expecting a couple of samples of thin wall hose covering with a high temperature rating. Comes in various sizes but 19mm ID will do the fuel and suspension pump lines and 25 mm ID for power steering pressure hose and maybe A/C low pressure hose.

The sample that came turned out to be fire sleeving, a silicone outer with a furry fibreglass lining. It has excellent insulating properties and temperature resistance but the furry core would any retain fuel or oil leakage, colour choice is red-brown or silver, both have a mottled appearance.

Not suitable.
