Hi,

a friend owns a 280SE and i need to know what part is this, shown in the pictures.
Can`t find it anywhere! :(
The mrchanic told him that this part is damaged in his car.
Can anyone please help me?
Many thanks in advance.

It's manifold pressure sensor.
The most important sensor in the D-Jetronic system (electronic injection).

You should ask your friend to test it himself. It's rather simple. Measure the winding resistance this way:

Pressure Sensor:
ECU harness pin 7 to 15 = approximately 90 ohms.
ECU harness pin 8 to 10 = approximately 350 ohms.

You don't need to measure from the ecu at first  as what you do then is to verify the wiring from the ecu to the mps in the same operation. First measure the terminals on the mps, then check from the ecu to check the wiring. The difference in ohms is negligible. Usually two to three ohms in the wiring. (Mostly due to the connection points rather than the cable actually)

It should also hold vacuum, either suck on it and verify that it is tight or use a vacuum pump.

If you find it faulty, send me a PM, I have one spare for sale.

Bosch also do a reconditioning service.

Without having checked the price for a reconditioning I believe my spare will be cheaper than that! :-)

Very definitely the Bosch prices are really really expensive - and that is an understatement but you do get a new one.
