Hi guys.
Trying to pick up some front shocks for the 116 off a fellow site member
"13b", and don't wish to waste his time if they're not correct.

Is anyone aware of any differences  between early and late model 116?
6 cylinder and v8?
Not 6.9! Not self leveling.

I Have the last of the early model D jet 6 cylinder.
Was the same series of front schocker used?

When new, there was a VIN break.  For 280se/sel models up to chassis 045746 shock part number 116-323-23-00 was used, and from chassis number 045747 shock part number 116-320-00-30 was used.  However, the first part number was replaced by the second part number, so the latest part number applies to all now.

According to EPC and parts catalogs, all of the spring suspended W116 chassis cars use the same front shocks, and all chassis variations now use the same part number, as well, which is the 116-320-00-30.  Just be aware that if you still have your original shocks, the replacements will mount opposite of how the originals do.  What I mean is that the originals were mounted in such a way that the shiny rod coming out of the shock faced downward, and on the replacements the rod faces upwards.  So if you come across this scenario, don't think you have the wrong shocks. :)
