Go to Lintrex in Bentley or Osborne Park. It is half the price and still the genuine product.

BTW; This is optional. ;)

Sheeez, a local bloke made a few phonecalls for me a few years ago and added his cut and it got to $55/L.
MBSpares was $20/L around the same time.

We will all mostly favour Febi, Lemfoerder or rebranded Mercedes bottled fluid but 13B put up about Penrite MB15 SLS fluid which was under $20/L which I'm keen to try one day.  Just haven't had the need to swap yet.

That's ok, just wanted to highlight the differences I found but I've been there before.  Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and buy on the spot.  Most laughable quote I had was for a new coil at repco.  $400.  That transaction didn't go ahead.

I argued with the parts dept at Diesels when they wanted about $60 per litre and they haggled down to nearly $30 - I bought 6 litres off them at the time.

I still have one litre for spare after doing the "oil and filter change.

They seem to have a time limit on stock and if it isn't for a current model and they have had it in stock for a year or so they will pretty well halve the price.

I asked at M-B if there is more than one type of suspension fluid and was told no, there's only one.

Is this not correct?

Meyle brand sells the stuff for about $12 USD , exactly the same MSDN as the MB stuff but much less expensive.

Try Imparts. They are in most states I think and are considerably cheaper for most parts.

I will have to go and have a look at the bottle but as far as I know it is called "hydraulic oil" and there is only one type.

A long while ago a mate of mine had a 500SEL with a saggy rear end. He went to the family mechanic in Osbourne Park WA and the burly South African mechanic fixed it all up and gave him the spiel about the rear hydraulic suspension.

'This oil is very good stuff, i comes out of rocks, they call this shale oil but i say its rock oil'

Has anyone heard of this oil before? I remember a mine up in Queensland has a heap of that kind of stuff in it, a rock that weeps a special oil  ???
