Oh? Which station sells Ultimate? I use Shell's V-Power.

BP Ultimate is a 98RON Premium Unleaded with proprietary additive package sold by BP in Western Australia. Their marketing claims the product to clean combustion chamber deposits while you drive.

I have used BP Ultimate in my Volvo 850GLE for the last 40,000km with great results. The combustion chambers are spotlessly clean, there are no deposits on the piston crowns either.

Ah. Don't got BP where I live. However, Shell's V-Power also promises to clean combustion chamber deposits while you drive.

... and the BMW windscreen cleaning solvent. ;D

Seriously though, petrol is a very useful solvent for lots of cleaning applications, if a little harsh.

Yes Bp ultimate is in Adelaide but apparently not where Zagato lives in Canada.

I don't know if there is any truth in it, but I think there have been ties between unleaded fuels (using cyclic aromatic compounds like toluene) being carcinogenic, and people using it regularly (the publicised one I remember is a well known carby specialist in UK) getting cancer. These days I try to avoid getting it on my hands too much and use those tighter fitting chemical gloves (if I remember!)

Any type of petrol is known to be carcinogenic along with mineral oils, etc.

Carb cleaner is what I use. Perfect for cleaning such components. I would flush the fuel distributor and injectors out with it too. It evaporates instantly and dissolves all the crud.

I have two airflow meter assemblies right next to my bed along with all the other 116 parts in my room. I essentially sleep in a mechanical workshop. It doesn't stink too much of fuel though.

I'm a great fan of carb cleaner, CRC Clean-R-Carb is the best I've come across, far better than cheaper sprays.

Don't know what's in it but I don't think extended exposure to it is a good idea.

I bet you even dream about car parts and mechanical repairs while sleeping, sharing the bed with air flow meters. If that's the case, the w116 fever has taken a hold of you well and truly and there is no hope  ::)
Absolutely, but nightmares are the worst.

Here's a pic of one of the injectors off the 450. The tip is now like new, they were not like this last time I removed them.
