My 280 se has the bundt style wheels and I see lots of what appear to be hubcaps on other w116s. I like that look better and wanted to know are they in fact hubcaps or a different typle of wheel entirely?

They are in fact steel wheels with hubcaps (wheel trims). They also require a set of bolts of differing dimensions if you were considering the changeover. They look very nice IMHO. I'm quite sure there are two different widths of wheel depending on whether it is a 280, 450 etc. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you mean the hubcaps the same colour as the car?

they are factory yes

on a 6 inch or 6 and a half inch wheel

As far as I know, all 116s have 14'' rims. The 6.9 came with wider tires - 215, while the 450 and 280 had 205.

i have a set of steel wheels if you are interested. they have hubcaps as well, however they are off a 72 280sel.

I would be interested. If shipping doesn't seem prohibitive...PM me. Thanks!
