I have a 1980 300SD and I noticed sometimes after a heavy rain my trunk will be wet on each side in the wells. My trunk seal is fine, the fuel tubing is fine and the lamp cover gaskets are fine. also the drain holes in the trunk wells are not plugged.

I need some help on information about checking the sunroof drain hoses or tubing. Also where are they located? I tried looking on the online service Manuel but unable to locate the information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Rock how's your rear windscreen seal?  As I understand it sunroof problems usually result in wet footwells as the water flows down the pillars.  There have been quite a few posts recently about the lamp cover gaskets (assume this is the same as tail lights) looking OK visually but being old enough to let in water.

I have this problem (the rubber seals look OK, but they aren't) and I also have sunroof problems so if you find the info on drainage tubes let me know!

I'm going to be removing my sunroof this weekend if things go to plan so I'll take some photos of what I can.

Regards,
Matt.

Rear Sunroof drains go down the C pillar and empty into the rear wheelarch as far as I remember.

The fronts are visible looking from ouside between front guard and door with the front door open.

They are unlikely to cause water in the boot without major problems like structuraol rust.

I remember them following this route: Down the C-Pillar and into the boot wells, exiting next to the spare wheel well on either side. The fuel filler area drain also exits in this area.

I've been looking at this area of the W126 too, so my memory may be failing me. ;)
