Speaker vibration

Perhaps I am in the matrix, but the passenger side front speaker vibrates with low (bass) frequency sound. Only this speaker is a problem, and I notice it also in my W123 car as well... same place, same problem. My theory is that something in the glovebox is vibrating, but when I remove everything from the box, the problem persists. Any ideas????

To narrow it down, you might want to remove the speaker and see if it rattles when free of the chassis and you play some music.

I'm only familiar with the upper dash mounted speakers in the 126, but as far as I know, there isn't anything directly beneath them.

It could be the grille that is rattling, or the speaker cone has a tear in it, which is quite likely. If they are not original speakers, then they may have the dreaded rotten foam surrounds.

I had this problem on the drivers side in my 116. It turned out that the cover was vibrating I could stop it by putting my finger on the cover. I fixed it with a little bit of blu tack. Not very mercedes benz but works very well. A piece of foam or rubber could do the tick too.
