Power Window trouble, what next?

Hi all,
I had some good advice a few posts ago regarding my window not working. I pulled the arm off the regulator and moved the cogs (would only move 2-3 mm) to see if this would unjam the motor. This I did with a large flat screwdriver. I taped the glass so it wouldn't guillotine me, but after all this the motor still didn't engage the cogs. The motor was receiving power as it made a 'tic,'tic' noise. If it is a dead motor, how do I get this out? It seemed to be located behind the window channel. As I grabbed the regulator and moved it, the motor seemed to be attached but I couldn't see a way of getting this out. Am I missing something? What should I attempt next?
cheers,

Job 72-183 (Doors) in the library describes how to get the motor out, it involves drilling large holes in the door frame.

Thanks Koan, I'll give it ago, but can you tell me, once the motor is detached from the regulator, is it a matter of pulling it out minus the regulator or does the regulator need to come out as well? Do i need to disconect the battery for this operation?

I had to replace a broken regulator but seem to remember taking out the motor first as the holes were already drilled in my door from a previous repair.

The manual gives much the same instructions for motor removal and regulator removal which I don't quite understand, I assume the regulator with motor attached went in as a unit so should come out as a unit with no hole drilling.

The motor will come out on its own once the three bolts are out.

I usually disconnect the battery when working on electrics but in this case if you unplug the connector to the motor early in the procedure there is no reason to.

Koan,
Yeh, the manual is a little vague. I'll see what eventuates.
Not sure what I'll be up for, for a new motor, wonder if second hand is viable, I'll do some investigating.
Thanks for your help.
