« on: 13 July 2008, 07:36 PM »

Hi,
here is old big blue  with her new refurbished Italian 16" Fondmetal rims that I had fitted this weekend .Must still refinish her in her original black but for now spending all my time and energy and funds to get the cosmetics right on one of her stablemates that I had recently acquired . A black W108 280S manual 4speed column shift !  Grin

Those are very very nice - where did you get them?
I'd love to put them on my 126.
Didn't the 560 SEL have them as an option here in the (increasingly darker) South of Africa?

I like the wheels too.

What width tires are you running? Wider tires on 16" wheels make for nice handling but I find tire pressure does play a big roll.

Hi guys,
tks, for all the nice replies ,they are an Italian make, " Fondmetal" ET23 7Jx 16h2 with 205/55 16' Continentals tyres on them.. Found them at a local breaker shop on a dilapidated and totally rusted out 450SLC. They were in bad shape and had them refurbished by a mag repair shop.I liked the deep dish effect and think that they were a knock off of Lorinsers wheel at the time. The centre caps were missing but found that a current E-class set worked if you take the spring out at the back and and trim one or two of the clips !  Wink

I really like the whole look; the colour and the wheels. Well done.

...now all you have to do is put some better looking Euro headlights on to finish it off  Cool
