I somehow ended up with a full set of MB-Tex seats today at bargain basement price courtesy of Nathan's excellent eye in the Quokka. They are without the elusive intact fragile trim pieces, but you can't have everything and if they were with the kit, I would have passed them on to Mr. Bateman himself.
Really, these are awesome, MB-Tex is very practical and it all fits with the stealthy 280SEL look I'm after!

They look pretty good Tim.

The problem with the plastic trim pieces is that they are only a click fit in the frame and tend to become loose and fall off and then people mislay them. A ring of Silicon on the bit that is supposed to clip will hold the piece and stioll allow it to be removed later if needed.

I am arranging to get the back seat covers in from GAHH for my 6.9 with electric reclining rear seat and am working on "She who must be obeyed". Cracks are appearing in the facade so it's looking hopeful.

Amongst other things, I installed the seats today and managed to transfer the old plastic trim over successfully. I removed the parcel shelf trim for re-trimming as it was unsightly. These front seats have the torsion type spring arrangement of which a few are broken on the driver's seat. Interestingly, the old seats had a MFG date of 1974 and had the arm rest on the driver's seat and coil springs rather than torsion springs.




I also picked up my manifold gaskets yesterday.

I thought the armrst on the RH seat meant South African Manufacture.

It is possible that your seats had previously been swapped - is there a manufacturer's label with the date of manufacture?

That's interesting. The front seats were certainly not original as they were Tex and were dated 1974. The rears were original 1976 leather.
Fortunately the LHF seat had the height adjustment so I swapped the base over as they all interchange.
