Post by: gju888 on 20 August 2008, 07:57 PM
Hi. Does anybody know if the interior door panels and pillars are wrapped with mbtex as well? my interior sidings and pillars have discolored and im thinking of having them re-wrapped. is this the right thing to do?

I'd like to know myself.   I have a bad habit of resting my arm on the top of the door panel and not on the armrest.  I actually wore a hole in it now. :-\

As far as the center part of the door, I thought this was a pretty clever idea to use burlwood.  I'm not sure what this would cost but I think it looks sharp.  I found these pictures on a German site years ago.  He's even running 10" wide Borbet Type A wheels on the back  :o

The door trim itself is injection moulded plastic the same as the dash material. The insert is not exactly MB-Tex, but similar. B Pillar trims are metal wrapped in thin vinyl, which is not MB-Tex as on the seats. If you were to reskin the B-Pillar trims properly, you would need to match the grain of the original material, which may or may not be an easy task. Unless you want to go custom, I would look around for a used set in the condition you want.
