Just to add, I have a March 1977 280SE ( Euro spec) and it has the deflector.

Well I have a 74 450SE and it doesn't. Any way of telling if it did? Previous owner had a habit of taking stuff off and not putting it back.

Weird.. since mine is a 280se 1977 euro as well, did the (missing) deflector somehow come as an option?
If not, maybe it runs up to a certain VIN number maybe?

OOPS SORRY for creating confusion, my car has NO deflector! ( I was thinking of the W126 )

As far as I can see the deflector is not offered as an option. Certainly my datacard  doesn't list it so perhaps its not a standard item?

The deflector wasn't an option. It was an improvement of sliding roof system.

It seems that it has been installed from 1978 models.

Thanks for that at least I know that it wasn't something else missing.

I've just realised my 350 is actually 1977, not 1978, and definitely had the deflector from factory.
I've no data card for it, so can't say whether it was MY78 already (i.e. 08/1977 or later), or still MY77.
