Front seat removal

As an olfd fart I can do it myself but not a pleasurable job.

On RHD anyway the front passenger seat has the extra bolt and bracket at left rear and I protect my trim and door entrance from any damage.

The trapped nuts can become loose and make it difficult to replace the runner bolts.

I personally am easy on replacing the spring - I remove it and replace it with a hand made wire hook as otherwise the seat base can be difficult to align with the bolt holes when you try to put it back.

With using the hook and bringing the seat base as far forward as possible it is quite easy to remove and replace the spring.

Bill any tips for getting the driver's seat back in place again?

That's going to be my job this weekend and Oscar mentioned there was some sort of sequence that helped align the bolt holes when putting it back in.

I had big issues with the height adjustment when I installed the seat again. I think it is best to have it positioned lowest so you can fasten the front bolts first, Easier to elevate the seat when you have fastened the bolts in the front than the other way around. As long as you are two people you should not have any problem, I did it alone and I spent over an hour fitting the front seat...

That's going to be my job this weekend and Oscar mentioned there was some sort of sequence that helped align the bolt holes when putting it back in.

1) I remove the big spring but leave it connected to it's rear mounting point - if you leave it connected it can pull on one side unevenly and make it difficult to line up the last hole.

2) pull both pairs of runners full forward and put in front bolts but do not fully tighten.

3) Push seat fully forward and put in rear bolts and tighten.

4) Push seat fully backwards and tighten front bolts.

5) Push seat fully forward and using a piece of bent wire in the form of a T with the end bent over I pull the front end of the spring onto it's mounting.

This is fashioned out of some electrical cable as an example but No 8 fencing wire does the job.

The only other problem can be when one of the trapped mouinting nuts on the floor gets dislodged but it is possible to lift the carpet and either relocate or replace them. They are held by a metal flap built into the design which can weaken or rust.
