Front Fenders

I think that this has been discussed before but will the front fenders of a 450SEL fit a 450SE? I'm thinking that the front fenders and rear quarter panels must be the same size with the difference only occurring in the size of the rear doors.

The difference is in the length of the rear doors.

If believe if you take up the carpet in the rear of the car, you can actually see the section that is added to the SE chassis to make it into an SEL.

Great! That makes it very easy to pick up used fenders for any W116. What's the going rate for new or used fenders?

The value of good used body panels varies hugely between different geographic locations - obviously if you live in an area where cars rust fast, any rust free panels you happen to find locally will attract a price premium. 

I live near Johannesburg, South Africa, an area that is very far inland, and never sees any snow or ice.  Rust is almost an unknown quantity here, so I can but rust free W123 doors for instance, for about $35 each    For a newer model such as W202, despite a good availability of rust free parts, I paid $300 for a good rear door.
