exterior a-pillar trim installation

Does anyone know how to install the exterior A-Pillar trim to the chrome? I recently had my car re-painted, and of course removed everything. I re-installed the exterior chrome on the A-Pillar, new plastic clips, but for the life of me cannot figure out to attach the painted sheet metal piece to those clips....I can see how the clips slide on the sheet metal piece, but there just does not seem to be an apparent way to do so....has anyone re-installed these before that knows the trick?

What I do is hold the trim close to the chrome a few inches above the the bottom clip then slide it onto the bottom clip. The middle and top just need a firm push to attach. Hope that makes sense.

Have a look in the online manual, job 68-520. Early and late are different, there are two sets of removal instructions, where the clips are and where to prise, etc., it might affect how it goes back together.

Thanks! I never thought to look in the service manual library under interior trim....but that's were it's at. The photos are of great help.

I had no idea there'd be an early and late version. Good pick up koan.
