Door handle

1974 450 SE drivers door handle
Have a replacement one ready to go in - the online manual seems to be a bit short on info for installing it

What does the screwdriver-like shaft line up with? Are there any tricks to this?

pretty straightforward, but you need the interior door trim off (remember after all the screws and trim bits are off, the door card lifts UP in order to prevent snapping the teeth off!)

on the back of the door (adjacent the B pillar) you will see a black plastic clip (one inch tall), flick this out and two 5mm allen bolts are  there, undo them
then on the interrior of the door, peer through and you will see a large phillips head bolt that you need to undo. once undone, "open" the door handle and slide it back and it will come off easliy.

replacement is simply the reverse. but make sure you test the handle before you put all the interior trim bits back on!
