Better late then never - rear seat covers

Several weeks after ordering my new rear seat leather it finally arrived today.

I started considering an order for my rear seat leather when the AUD was at 96 cents US and by the time I put the order in a couple of weeks later it had dropped to the low 80's.(It was below 62 cents today)

As you may remember 8 days later I received a copy of the GAHH Samples Catalogue. http://forum.w116.org/interiors-and-exteriors/gahh-catalogue/

Well it would appear that my parcel of leather must have been sitting in GAHH Dispatch next to a parcel for Germany for someone who wanted their catalogue - so you guessed it - I got the catalogue, and my leather went off to Germany.

Apparently because I received a package and my staff signed for it that was taken as me receiving the leather and it took some weeks to convince GAHH that I had received an unrequested catalogue and not the leather.

My leather apparently got to Greece and has never been seen since so GAHH have sent me a new replacement package of leather which took 6 days to arrive.

With some trepidation I opened the parcel in case after all this trouble they hadn't sent the correct spec leather for my electric reclining rear seat - but it appears to be all correct.

Anyway here it is in all it's glory and I shall take great delight in fitting it in the next month or so, so that my car  will have an all new interior with the exception of the headliner which will be next years job.

I thank GAHH for honoring their order and I am sorry if they probably lost money on the deal but they can take it out of the pay of the (presumed) dilberry Dispatch Clerk.

Anyway - alls well that ends well and I can get back to enjoying my hobby and not sulking about.

THe door panels had been previously re-padded before I purchased the car Craig.

What a relief to finally get them considering the distances and cost involved.   And I hope GAHH get the other set back.   There's too many places that I'd like to shop at that don't sell OS from the US because it's too much hassle when things go wrong.  I'd hate to see these guys join those ranks.

Wish I could see the lot fitted in person.  Have you put covered over the fronts (and will you be covering the back) to protect them or are you going to leave them exposed and enjoy the leather as it should be.  I'll be disappointed to see a crocheted Nana rug over the back seat.  Did they let you keep the catalogue?

Thanks Oscar,

The original Postal service was USPS and I see GAHH have changed to Fedex which is a little dearer but apparently more reliable.

Having said that I think the parcels were originally given the wrong labels at GAHH but USPS can't locate where the first parcel ended up except somewhere in Greece - so they might ?appear on European e-bay ;D

No I never cover my leather seats - ever. They need to mature and develop a patina in the fresh air.

Bill, message from Julian (turning 5 next week) - "Dear Dr Bill (!), thankyou for continuing to make my future car so magnificent.  I have $76 in my piggy bank and in 12 years when I am ready to pick my car back up again from you (after my generous 13 year loan of the car to you) I should have enough money together to satisfy any losses your super may have felt in the last 3 months  By the way Daddy is very excited as he is a Liquidator and evidently liquidators LOVE recessions...."  Keep up the good work - look forward to the headlining, love Julian. age 4."
sigh....sitting back contemplating the next purchase..!

Thank you Julian and happy birthday for next week,

Tell Daddy that I shall consider it a sacred trust to look after your car for you.

Also tell Daddy that most of my savings for old age are in neither equities nor Superannuation and that Doctors do just the same during bad and good economic times - it's just that some things get cheaper to buy ( Like a CLS63 with 10 to 20,000km on the clock for instance) ;D)
