w126 speedo cluster

help, being driven crazy.
just replacing some globes on the 500 (in the meantime!) and one of the two in the instrument cluster with speedo is busted. i get the cluster out easily but for the life of me cant figure out HTF to get the clear shield off the cluster to replace the globe?
does anyone have any ideas??

PS i havent bought an oil filter in a while (mechanic usually does)...from memory, 6.9 filters were expensive. the one for the 500 today only cost 10 bucks! bargain. i might change the oel weekly!

Surely you go in from the back.

Why would you have to go in from the front through the instrument glass.

I would think the bulbs should just push in or push and twist in from the rear.

ill have a better look tonight Bill but it really looks like the bulbs are situated at the front so i thought hte glass would have to come off.

one bonus i didnt realise, this thing has theelectric steering wheel adjustment, i might chuck this in the G too!

I would've expected that you would go in from the back as well... that's the usual setup. Yes, oil filters are cheap as chips unless it's for an M-100, in which case they're about 80 bucks (from the dealer). In comparison, the oil filter for my Volvo (Genuine Mann) is about $30 from Premier Motors... LOL. Things like filters for MB's are relatively inexpensive for what they are IMHO.

If you look at it that way, everyone gets ripped off when buying parts for any European car in Aus.
