That looks like a reasonable front end rebuild.

I see the new guide rod parts... I'd be interested to know how the installation goes, as this is a job that would need to be done on my 126.

Those guide rod supporting ball joints are quite expensive.  There are a few brands available, and I talked the owner into going for Lemfoerder in preference over Meyle for these items.

That sounds like a wise move, Meyle should be good for the bushes etc.

Yeah, as you can see its a mixed bag of items.  Meyle for some of the basic bushes, Lemfoerder for ball joints and Febi for the upper control arms.  I have already sourced and installed the steering knuckle support joints locally from the MB dealership (expensive...) - forgot to take photos, sorry.

The front suspension components were prepared for painting this week :

Mild steel plate items were chemically stripped.  Forged components were blasted.  Prior to blasting, bolt holes were protected with sacrificial bolts.  The bearing journals were protected.

Prior to painting, the ball joints have been installed, and the lower links attached to the knuckles.

That's pompy's aircleaner over on the right getting painted at the same time.

The components were painted with Standox etch primer, followed by Standox 2K black, matted down to a satin finish.

I second Oscar's comment... top quality work indeed.

That's going to be one slick looking W123!
